What is Internet of Things (IoT)?

Inspired by the artist Robert Rauschenberg, the artwork intends to visualize communication through the Internet of Things.

Today, the world has become more and more internet-reliant. Countless people and businesses could not survive without the internet. The internet has woven our lives in one way or another to connect not just to people but to the things around us connecting each other as well. Hence, the Internet of Things.

What is Internet of Things (IoT)?
THINGS + Sense & Communicate

The Internet of Things (IoT) which is said to be far bigger than anyone realizes, is a system of interrelated computing devices, mechanical and digital machines, objects, animals or people that are provided with unique identifiers and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction. One of the earliest example of this concept is the ATM machine that went online in the 1970′s. There are also some of the things that you may already own including the apple watch, smartphones, smart home appliances like refrigerators or thermostats, cars and many other items that are getting the internet of things treatment.

Although there could be potentially terrifying security and privacy issues we might be dealing with, sure enough that the IoT does not just make our everyday lives and businesses more efficient, it could completely save lives through advanced communication (e.g. revolutionizing patient care or intensifying warning systems for sudden calamities).
